Directing

I direct new plays and musicals through joyfully rigorous, actor-centered processes, using the rehearsal room as a space for discovery and experimentation. I'm drawn to developing new work that invites theatrical invention and emotional precision, collaborating with writers, actors, and creative teams to discover what a piece wants to become as it moves from page to stage. I strive to create rehearsal rooms that feel curious, generous, and alive—places where actors and writers are free to take risks, explore unexpected possibilities, and uncover the fullest version of a story together.

Will You Be Praying the Entire Flight?

by Gili Malinsky

Edinburgh Fringe · 4-Star Review

Will You Be Praying the Entire Flight? follows two Jewish women—one secular and one ultra-Orthodox—as they challenge one another's assumptions about faith, identity, and the lives they've chosen over the course of a six-hour flight.

Across multiple workshops, a New York production, and its Edinburgh Fringe run, I collaborated closely with playwright Gili Malinsky as the play evolved, shaping both the script and the staging. Together, we sought to balance the play's sharp humor with emotional honesty, creating space for the intimacy of the central relationship and the larger questions it raises about empathy, belonging, and genuine dialogue across profound difference.

The Moss Maidens

by S. Dylan Zwickel

CKC Productions · London Staged Reading

The Moss Maidens is set in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands, where six ordinary teenage girls who discover that no one sees them as dangerous—and turn that invisibility into a deadly weapon as they build an unlikely Resistance cell of their own.

I generally prefer to collaborate with another director on my writing, but The Moss Maidens has become a rare exception. After years of development, I realized that my understanding of the text had become inseparable from my understanding of how it should live onstage. Directing the London reading allowed me to explore the ensemble's physical language, the tension between youthful exuberance and wartime violence, and the balance of intimacy and theatricality that defines the piece. It also reaffirmed something I value deeply as a director: that every process should emerge from the unique needs of the work itself.

The Stranger's Masquerade

Co-created with Lindsay Carpenter

Outside the Box Amusements · Ghost Ship Murder Mysteries · The Ned NoMad

When the enigmatic proprietor of a cultish carnival vanishes on the night of his legendary masquerade, rumors of murder swirl—and every masked guest becomes a suspect in a heightened world of hidden identities, surreal spectacle, and shifting allegiances.

Co-creating and directing immersive productions through Ghost Ship Murder Mysteries allows me to explore a different kind of theatrical storytelling—one in which audiences don't simply witness the story but inhabit it. I'm drawn to creating heightened theatrical worlds that illuminate something deeply human, carefully orchestrating how discoveries ripple through the room, tension builds, and each audience member's choices reshape the unfolding experience. The result is an immersive world that invites audiences to become collaborators in the storytelling itself.

Featured Collaborations

Beautiful Little Fool - Southwark Playhouse

Assistant Director → Associate Director · Director: Michael Greif

I joined Beautiful Little Fool as Michael Greif's Assistant Director and was promoted to Associate Director as the production's needs expanded. After Michael returned to the US, I led rehearsals independently, rehearsed swings and new company members, gave performance notes throughout the run, and maintained the production on his behalf. Our collaboration has continued across multiple projects, reflecting the trust we built through this process and giving me invaluable experience both shaping new work in rehearsal and sustaining a production after opening.

The Outsiders - Original Development

Associate Director · Original Director: Liesl Tommy

Over four years of the musical's original development, I worked closely with Liesl Tommy as The Outsiders evolved through workshops, writers' rooms, and choreography labs. Alongside supporting rehearsals, I contributed to dramaturgical conversations with the creative team, helped carry ideas between the writers' room and the rehearsal room, and was entrusted to represent Liesl during choreography workshops. The experience gave me a rare opportunity to see how a major new musical is built over time—and reinforced my belief that the strongest productions emerge through sustained collaboration, curiosity, and a willingness to keep discovering.

Beautiful Little Fool at Southwark Playhouse, dir. Michael Greif

My work as an associate and assistant director has given me deep experience developing new plays and musicals alongside leading directors, writers, choreographers, and creative teams. I've been fortunate to build ongoing creative relationships with directors including Liesl Tommy and Michael Greif, working with each across multiple projects and at every stage of development, from writers' rooms and early workshops through rehearsal, production, and performance. Collaborating with directors whose approaches differ from my own continually challenges and expands my practice, and those experiences directly inform the way I lead rehearsal rooms.
